ePMA Video Case Study
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is a 570 bed, multi-campus acute hospital serving the needs of over 400,000 residents of Hartlepool, Stockton-On-Tees, East Durham and the surrounding area. Building on from their introduction of electronic records in 2015, and in line with their strategic digital roadmap, the Trust were planning the first stage of closed-loop prescribing through the roll-out of Electronic Prescribing Medicines Administration (ePMA).
Watch the video to see how we helped the Trust implement Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration to deliver safer dispensing at the point of care.
Customer feedback
Some of the key feedback we received from the staff after the project was implemented.

The Parity workstations are great. The clinical staff love them, especially when doing med rounds because they have large bright touchscreens and are easy to manoeuvre.
Naveed Amanat, Clinical Applications Analyst

The carts are easy to clean with Clinell wipes, so from an infection control point of view, they find them easy because there are no nooks.
Ruksana Salim, Lead Nurse, Quality and Professional Standards

The staff like the carts and find them really beneficial. The medicine round times have reduced significantly.
Laura Welsh, Ward 42 Matron

A complete project managed solution
The Trust chose us as a strategic partner as they could select certain project management benefits to suit them.

Full project management
We combined our project management expertise and best practices with the Trust’s workflow and strategy for a smooth roll-out.

Pre-delivery configuration
We pre-imaged, configured and connected all of the IT hardware and peripherals, including cable management, ready for the Trust to roll-out and saving time for the Trust’s IT staff.

Phased delivery
Our phased delivery schedule enabled the Trust to roll-out one ward at a time without having to worry about storing surplus equipment.

Super user training
We trained the trainers to create super users who have the knowledge to confidently teach their colleagues.
Solutions selected from our range
The Trust’s working group determined that they needed a fully mobile access solution that would be suitable and practical enough for a range of users, across several departments in the hospital. Two mobile workstations were chosen – one with and one without medication storage. Both with Medical Grade All-In-One PCs featuring remote battery management software.
VersaLite EPR Cart
Chosen for use in A&E and the Early Assessment Unit, the VersaLite EPR’s manoeuvrability allows it to be wheeled to patients easily and lets clinicians update records instantly at the point of care.

Perfect for users of different heights
It was important that the mobile workstations could accomodate a range of nurses and clinicians of all sizes. The cart’s height adjustment and ergonomic keyboard tray mean that they’re suitable for users of all heights.
Easily manoeuvrable
Without the need for medication storage in A&E or the Early Assessment Unit, they opted for the VersaLite EPR’s increased manoeuvrability, smaller footprint and more lightweight build.
Infection control as standard
Designed with smooth profiles and supplied already connected to devices with neatly routed cables for improved infection control, our carts offer clinicians a clean workspace that is easy to wipe down and clean, saving time every day.
VersaLite ePMA Cart
The storage capacity combined with the ability to adjust the height of this cart made it the perfect solution to be used on Wards. Its primary use is for safely storing drugs and keeping them organised, allowing for faster and more accurate dispensing on medication rounds.

Access to patient data
Having access to a high-speed PC on a mobile workstation gave clinicians access to patient data without delay and the ability to update electronic records instantly.
A more efficient way to work
A compact storage space allows nurses to keep drugs organised and only store what is needed regularly for medication rounds on the wards. This makes medication rounds more efficient and reduces the amount of time they take.
Secure storage
The robust metal enclosure provides safe and secure storage of medication and is protected by the customer’s choice of either a DigiLock or SMARTLock
24/7 All-In-One PC
The medical-grade 24/7 All-In-One PC was used across the Trust – mounted on our mobile workstations and creating fixed workstations using ergonomic wall mounts. With no downtime, it is a perfect computing solution for accessing patient records and electronic prescribing.
