Background – The Journey To Go Paperless

  • All Trusts have been set the Government target to become & go paperless by 2020.

  • Medical Staff, Nurses & Doctors all require fast reliable ICT equipment.

  • Staff do not want to wait for equipment to recharge, they require 24/7 access to ICT equipment.

  • Limited space on wards & limited power sockets are available to leave equipment charging.

  • Medical Staff would like the ICT support department to be more proactive & faster in resolving issues.

  • Medical Staff would like ICT support to monitor & resolve ICT issues before they cause disruption.

  • Due to the expansion of mobile working on a daily basis, a growing number of endpoint devices with over 2500 devices on the ICT estate.

  • West Suffolk NHS Trust needed a way to monitor their devices used in their new large scale ‘Electronic Patient Record System’.

  • Ultimate Team Goal: Helping to improve the Patient Journey and enable Medical Staff to spend more time on providing safer patient care by using technology more effectively.

Solutions – The EconoLite Infinity Cart & Remote Management Software
This Mobile Computer Cart was chosen as it is light weight, height adjustable, ergonomic, easy to clean & is powered by hot swappable batteries. Please see the testimonials below to see what West Suffolk thought of the Cart.

“We’ve invested in their (Parity Medical) work stations on wheels, our staff love them, they fight over them, they literally, literally do on the wards and we want more of them. They are fantastic, thank you.”
Stephen Dunn, CEO, West Suffolk NHS Trust
“After a short procurement phase we decided to go with Parity Medical for our Mobile devices. They have been a huge success throughout the organisation. And they love them on the wards, so it’s been really good.”
Guy Hooper, EPR Programme Manager, West Suffolk NHS Trust
“The one thing I really like about the Infinity Carts are the hot swappable batteries so we never run out of power when we are working in a clinical environment, which makes it a bonus point. It is actually helping us to achieve our Digital Road-map for 2020.”
Dr. Mohanraj Suresh, Consultant, West Suffolk NHS Trust
“We chose the Parity Medical Infinity Carts because they had a wide screen which staff liked to use. The Carts are easy to pull along, and they can use them 24/7 so they don’t need to leave the Carts obstructing the beds.”
Andrew Smith, EPR Technical Implementation Manager, West Suffolk NHS Trust
“I think the Infinity Carts have been essential for the ensuring that the nursing staff were able to use the electronic health records effectively. They allow the nurse to stay near the patient’s bedside and that’s essential for delivering patient care. We are really happy, seriously, we are more than happy.”
Ian Coe, Lead Nurse on the E-Care Project, West Suffolk NHS Trust

Remote Management System
Our innovative new remote management system is the perfect Solution for West Suffolk as it meant their growing fleet of endpoint IT devices could not only be managed, but also updated remotely. West Suffolk’s Andrew Smith was also involved in the development of the software to help suit the workflow needs of NHS IT Teams.
This system enables IT Departments to remotely manage all devices centrally:
“Having the Remote Management System gives us visibility of all of our Mobile Computers, saving me at least 2 hours a day compared to old equipment.” Derek Lambert – EPR Project Technician, West Suffolk NHS Trust, Global Digital Exemplar.

The Solution To West Suffolk’s Technical Dreams

“We actively monitor workstations to check if they have disconnected and this helps identify and target specific hospital ward areas to visit on daily ward ICT equipment rounding’s.”

“Now there is no need for technical staff to leave their desk to walk to the other side of the hospital as the Remote Management System’s Dashboards present many different views.”

“Now checks can be conducted by all levels of technical staff from the service desk upwards.”
