Virtual Visit Cart Connecting patients with loved ones

With tighter restrictions in place regarding traditional visiting, many Hospitals are using our Virtual Visit Cart to help patients stay in touch with loved ones as it’s mobile, secure and easy to clean. Compatible with Apple, Android and Windows Tablets.

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has set up Virtual Visits to allow patients a means to stay in touch with loved ones. See the full post here.

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust are using Virtual Visit Carts for their ‘keeping in touch’ service. See the full post here.

Keeping in touch

We’ve worked with NHS Hospitals and care homes to deliver 100s of Virtual Visit Carts which have helped 1000s of Virtual Visit calls take place, connecting loved ones while restrictions are in place. Nurses simply wheel the Cart to the patient so they can speak to their friends and family at a pre-arranged time using video calling through ‘FaceTime’, ‘Zoom’ or a similar platform. The Cart can be used with pre-existing Tablets or we can supply new ones.

Patient-centred design

The Virtual Visit Cart is small, lightweight and easy to manoeuvre to the patient’s bedside. It’s been designed to allow patients and visitors to video call, without the need of a nurse holding a Tablet or a patient touching the Cart. The Tablet can be rotated portrait or landscape and tilted to allow optimum viewing in a bed or in the bedside chair.

Infection control and safety

The whole Cart is easy to disinfect with standard Hospital cleaning products. The Tablet is secured with a key, in a secure lockable enclosure with all cables safely managed.

Keeping loved ones connected

This Cart was originally designed to enable Mums who are too unwell to visit their babies in Intensive Care, to spend some time with them via ‘FaceTime’. One Hospital (West Herts NHS) received ‘Outstanding Practice’ from the Care Quality Commission for introducing their initiative to let Mums/Babies connect in this way. Social media stories and news is showcased below.
