Parity Medical donates Gaming Kart to Claire's House Children's Hospice

In December, Parity Medical’s social committee organised a Christmas Jumper Day as a fun way to raise money for charity. Since we all love festive novelty knitwear, our team were only too happy to get involved and gave generously.

With the money we were able to raise from the event, a member of staff suggested that we donated a gaming kart to a local children’s hospice, helping to bring some relief to children and their families who are under the care of the amazing team at Claire House.  We were also keen to support a charity that’s close to home, so this donation was particularly meaningful to us.

The donation

Last month, our production team set aside some time to build a gaming kart for our donation. The funds we raised also paid for a monitor, which was securely mounted to the kart, and we added an Xbox (donated by Get Well Gamers) and some games too!

When we contacted Claire House to offer them the gift, Lawren Harris, Play & Activities Team Leader,  said “I would love to say a HUGE big yes, please and thank you! We would love this, it would be so beneficial to have a mobile gaming resource for the kids/young adults to enjoy!”

Lewis Croft, Corporate Fundraiser for Claire House, also thanked the Parity Medical team for our donation. He said “Thank you so much for coming over to Claire House Wirral and not only donating an amazing piece of equipment that will be enjoyed by many of our children and families, but for also giving us your time, we really appreciate it.”

We hope that our donation can help to bring some smiles and positive experiences to the children and young adults who are attending Claire House.

Claire House

Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children make the most of the time they have, however long or short that may be. By providing specialist nursing and end of life care as well as emotional support, Claire House helps families through some of the toughest times of their lives.

Claire House has a team of trained professionals who are as passionate about what they do as they are talented at doing it. Our staff includes nurses, physiotherapists, play specialists, and counsellors.

The charity operates two sites, a full hospice on the Wirral and a second site in West Derby, Liverpool, offering day-care, complementary therapies, clinics, play and music sessions, and counselling.

Get Well Gamers

Get-Well Gamers is a fantastic registered UK charity that donates video games, consoles and accessories to children’s hospitals, hospices and other healthcare settings. Their goal is to support play specialists in helping children stay positive through their treatment and recovery.

The games and consoles they provide are kindly donated by members of the public and the Get-Well Gamers team checks it to make sure it works and is ready to find a new home. Once the donation has been given the all clear, the team checks their request list and sends the items out to the hospitals or medical facilities where they are needed!
