Free patient TV for the first dedicated cancer hospital in Liverpool

The new Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool has opened its doors to its first patients, and the city has its first cancer Hospital. The 110 bed, state-of-the-art facility will provide the region with groundbreaking research and outstanding specialist care. Patients will also benefit from free access to patient TV, entertainment and care information through CompanionWave, provided by Parity Medical.

A new single-bed room, now installed with a large-screen TV featuring CompanionWave.

Large screen TVs, installed with CompanionWave patient engagement on all the single bedded rooms.

We have been working closely with staff and patient participation groups, initially with a pilot project on the Wirral site, to deliver the best possible user experience in time for the grand opening.

The Trust is digitally mature and nationally recognised as one of 44 Trusts in England who are part of the NHS Global Digital Exemplar  (GDE) Programme.  The Digital Patient and Agile Clinician are central to their Digital Strategy and as part of that programme of work, the Trust decided to provide patients with completely free access to patient education and entertainment to improve their health and wellbeing.
