How smart nurse call or 'Helping Hand' helps patients and staff

Part of the development of the patient exerpeience and education system is smart nurse call – or as Clatterbridge Cancer Centre call it ‘Helping Hand’. This works as a triage differentiated call that allows volunteers and housekeeping staff to respond to requests such as asking for a glass of water or a snack and the message is sent to an iPad that they can respond to. This means the patient knows someone is there, reassuring them – they know the request has been accepted and someone is on their way. Their ‘helping hand’ system allows the nursing team to concentrate on the care and treatment of someone’s care while the more generic duties can be carried out by volunteers and the housekeeping staff.
